FALL 2012 REGISTRATION GUIDE
The registration period for first-year DeSousa-Brent Scholars is from 12 noon Thursday, July 12, to 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 13. Follow the steps below to register for your courses.
Step
1: Plan!
Before you enter the registration system in the Portal, have a well-planned course schedule already worked out. You must register for at least 12 credits to receive financial aid. The standard SMCM courseload is 16 credits (four 4-credit courses). Since you are already renrolled in CORE101 (4 credits), you must now choose 8 to 12 additional credits (typically, two or three more courses) to complete your fall schedule. Here’s how:
Download and complete the Fall 2012 Planning Worksheet.
In your first semester, you should focus on courses that satisfy Core Curriculum requirements. The planning worksheet's detailed instructions walk you step by step through course selection and scheduling. It includes space for listing back-up courses so that you are ready if your first-choice classes are already full when you register.
Step
2: Register!
View the Registration Tutorial video under the "New Students" tab in the Portal (log-in required). The video demonstrates essentially everything you need to know about the registration process.
Log into the Portal and register for classes as instructed by the video.
