FALL 2013 REGISTRATION GUIDE
Priority registration for first-year DeSousa-Brent Scholars begins August 1. We will prepare you for fall registration during Summer Bridge, but you may wish to familiarize yourself with the process early. Follow these steps to choose and register for courses.
Before you enter the registration system in the Portal on August 1, have a well-planned schedule worked out. You must register for at least 12 credits to receive financial aid. The standard SMCM courseload is 16 credits (four 4-credit courses). Since you are already enrolled in CORE101 (4 credits), you must now choose 8 to 12 additional credits (typically, two or three more courses) to complete your fall schedule. Here’s how:
Download and complete the Fall 2013 Planning Worksheet.
In your first semester, focus on courses that satisfy Core Curriculum requirements. The planning worksheet walks you step by step through course selection and scheduling. It includes space for listing back-up courses so that you are ready if your first-choice classes are already full by the time you register for them.
View the Registration Tutorial video under the "New Students" tab in the Portal (log-in required). The video demonstrates essentially everything you need to know about the registration process.
Log into the Portal and register for classes as instructed by the video.
At any time, contact:
NOTE: If later you need to make changes to your schedule, you will be able to do so during the Schedule Adjustment period during the first two weeks of classes.
