Schedule of St. Mary's Projects Spring 2005, Department of Economics

St. Mary's Projects, Spring 2005 Pictures of the Presenters

The St. Mary’s Project is not required for the major in Economics. However, many of our students choose to do a St. Mary’s project, often building on research they had completed in their previous economics courses.

Considering doing a St. Mary’s project in Economics? - It’s never too soon to begin thinking of topics. Take a look at what other students have done.

“History of the Stock Market” - Explored how the boom and crash of the 1990s repeated earlier episodes in the stock market. The project helped a student attain a job in financial services for American Express.

“Copyright Protection on the Internet” - Looked at the issues surrounding Napster and how they would lead to a new approach to marketing in the music industry.

“Minor League Soccer from Scratch” - Presented a business and marketing plan for starting up a professional soccer league.

“Baseball’s Money Gap” - Investigated the factors that have lead to the increases in salaries of baseball players and considered the implications those increases will have on the future of baseball as a business.

“Newspaper Brand Marketing” - Interviewed personnel from the marketing and editorial departments of the Washington Post to determine how the Post responded to changing market conditions.
