48 hours before storm hits
Voice Communication: Verify with Physical Plant that diesel tanks to the generators are topped off and in operational order (Baltimore Hall, Schaefer)
Network – Begin backup of all servers.
24 hours before storm hits.
All departments will continue with the Tuesday plan.
Day storm is to hit
When the President’s Council determines that a storm with hurricane/tropical force winds is imminent, the following applies:
- Key Employees will be notified by the Director of OIT to report to work.
- A minimum of 4 hours in advance of serious/dangerous conditions will be required to effectively perform an orderly system shutdown.
- Upon arrival, the network team will begin a building by building shutdown of network resources.
After storm has passed
When the President’s Council determines that conditions are safe and electrical service is available to the campus, a phone call will be placed to the Director of OIT. The Director will call key employees and inform them to return to work. A minimum of 5 hours will be required to restore all systems.
The network team will begin a building by building restoration of network services.
In the event of a power failure, communications will verify that the phone system is operational.
