Bio
Brian O'Sullivan earned his B.A. from Adelphi University, his M.A. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, and his Ph.D. in English from Temple University. In his dissertation, he examined the ways in which the teaching of writing has influenced and been influenced by literary modernism. From 2001 to May 2005, he worked as a lecturer and writing program administrator at the University of Rochester; during that time, his research interests included online tutoring, peer review and self-assessment in the writing classroom, and the rhetoric of the London avant-garde in the World War One era. Courses he has taught have focused on basic writing, advanced writing and peer tutoring, American autobiography, critical reading of journalistic writing, and parody and intertextuality. He is excited about expanding his old interests and developing new ones as he begins to work with students at St. Mary's.
