Colby Nelson received his B.A. from the University of Southern California and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington. While rooting for several hopeless (and hapless) baseball teams during graduate school, he studied 19th and 20th century American literature. His dissertation was entitled “Literary Investigations of Modern American Crime Narratives,” and he is particularly interested in American crime stories and detective fiction from the early- to mid- 20th century. His teaching interests include American realism and modernism. He also enjoys cooking, watching both arty and trashy films, and going on long walks with his dog, Lucy.
