By popular demand, we are organizing a faculty research forum to address the challenges and benefits of integrating research, scholarship and creative activities in the liberal arts curriculum here at St. Mary’s College of Maryland
. To this end, we have invited Dean Jeffrey M. Osborn, The College of New Jersey who is a recent recipient of the prestigious Fellows Award from the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR)
Dr. Osborn will discuss Developing an Institutional Infrastructure to Support Excellence in Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity on Monday, March 20 from 5:15-6:30 pm and Integrating Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity into Faculty Workload on Tuesday, March 21 from 8:40-10:00 am. Dr. Osborn will also lead interactive discussion groups on Monday, March 20 from 2:45-4:30 pm and on Tuesday, March 21 from 10:15 am – 12:30 pm.
We scheduled the forum for Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to accommodate alternate teaching schedules as much as possible. We hope you will be able to attend and contribute to a long-term plan in support of your own scholarly and creative endeavors and undergraduate research here at SMCM.
