The Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s seminal 1891 play of the same name, Spring Awakening is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality, and rock-and-roll that celebrates teenage self-discovery and rebellion against the authoritarian rule of parents and teachers. With poignancy and passion, Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater’s musical navigates the rocky terrain that is coming of age. Mature themes.
Directed by TFMS faculty member Mark A. Rhoda, musical direction by faculty member Larry Vote, and assistant musical direction by recent SMCM graduate, Robert Hayes. SPRING AWAKENING performs for one week only, February 28-March 3 @ 8:00 p.m. and March 4 @ 2:00 p.m.
TO AUDITION: Please prepare two things: 1) a popular song that, preferably, includes a verse and chorus; be prepared to sing acapella; 2) a maximum one-two minute monologue of your choice, preferably from a serious (or dramatic) play; ideally, you should have this piece memorized.
