“Urban Roots,” a 2011 documentary about urban farming in Detroit, is part of the programming for Food Week 2015: Towards a Greener Diet. The film explores themes of urban agriculture, community-building, healthy and sustainable food, and citizen action to rebuild and revitalize Detroit for a sustainable future, a city left damaged by the end of the industrial age in the US. This hopeful, positive, and well-made documentary builds excitement behind sustainable development and shows audiences how much it means to get involved in their community.
