Salvatore (Torre) Meringolo has served as Vice President for Development since 1997, originally joining the College in 1994 as the Director of Information Technology and the Library. He is responsible for external relations at the College including fundraising efforts in the areas of annual giving, planned giving, foundation and corporate relations, and major gifts. Under his leadership, the College successfully completed the largest fundraising initiative in the institution's history, the $40 million Heritage Campaign. Mr. Meringolo also serves as the Executive Director of the St. Mary's College of Maryland Foundation and Secretary to the College's Board of Trustees.
Prior to his arrival at St. Mary's, Mr. Meringolo was at the Pennsylvania State University where he served as the Associate Dean for Collections and Reference Services of the University Libraries. His earlier academic experiences include stints at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Iona College. He has been an active member of the development and library and information science profession for a number of years as a speaker and contributor to the professional literature.
Mr. Meringolo is active in the Southern Maryland community serving on the executive board of the Patuxent Partnership, the Navy Alliance, and the St. Mary's County Economic Development Commission. A1999 graduate of the Leadership Maryland Program, he holds an M.B.A. from Iona College, an M.L.S. from the State University of New York at Albany, and a B.A. from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
