Welcome to the St. Mary's College Counseling and Health Center!
Counseling and Health Services are housed in Chance Hall. We are separate services that enjoy working closely together to address the holistic needs of our student community. The services offered in Chance Hall have been specifically designed to address issues related to college student development and to give students the assistance and support needed to successfully manage the physical and emotional challenges of the college years.
Life in college is a time of great change and personal growth. It is exciting, satisfying, and sometimes challenging. We understand that students need many kinds of support to help them succeed at college. Our primary goal is to support students in negotiating a healthy transition to adulthood. We respect the dignity and worth of all students as maturing individuals with unique perspectives and contributions to make including those which reflect gender, race, creed, family and ethnic background, socioeconomic status, physical ability and sexual orientation.
In addition to health, wellness and psychological services, we provides individual and campus wide educational outreach through specialized programs, including
- Suicide Awareness and Prevention
- Health Promotion and Substance Abuse Prevention
- Self-care skills
- "Ask-A-Nurse" monthly theme programs
- Breast and Testicular Cancer screening
- Wellness Education, Outreach, and Services
- Depression, Anxiety, and Alcohol National Screening Days
- Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention
- Bloodborne Pathogen training
- Health and Safety Briefings for Study Abroad
