Accounts Receivable Supervisor/Bursar
St. Mary's College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting resumes for the position of Accounts Receivable Supervisor/Bursar. This person oversees and/or performs all functions necessary to ensure appropriate, accurate, and timely recordation and collection of College revenues and accounts receivables. Major responsibilities include (1) performing accounting functions in support of these objectives, (2) supervising the accounts receivable support staff, (3) acting as a liaison for students and parents in resolving questions or problems regarding their financial standing with the College, and (4) overseeing the billing process.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (an accounting/business major is preferred). Experience: At least 5 years experience in higher education with an understanding of the principles of accounting (including fund accounts and GAAP for higher education) and the services related to student accounts. At least two years experience supervising a receivable operation at an institution of higher education. At least two years experience using automated financial accounting systems required; experience with LAN client-server based accounting packages a plus. Organizational ability. Judgement. Initiative. Tact and sensitivity to requirements of working with confidential data. Ability to communicate effectively in writing or verbally. Leadership/Quantitative Skills/Aptitude – the ability to maintain high levels of integrity and customer service and the ability to manage multiple projects and contribute to a team environment. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
