Financial Aid Counselor
St. Mary's College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary's City is accepting résumés for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. The Financial Aid Counselor works with applicants, students, and parents regarding financial aid, scholarships, and federal work study employment. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of federal, state and institutional regulations, policies and procedures related to student aid. Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures and aid programs. In addition, The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for collecting and analyzing financial data on students to determine aid eligibility within federal, state and institutional guidelines. Assists with financial aid outreach activities, reporting and monitoring.
Qualifications include, but not limited to: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree with 4 years progressively responsible financial aid experience is preferred; strong organization skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
