St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Systems Administrator. This position is responsible for overseeing the administration of local area networks, campus-wide server-based (web, email, enterprise applications) systems, data storage, virtualization, backup and recovery processes. Additional responsibilities include: integrity and security of all server and appliance operating systems; designing and implementing server redundancy, survivability, protection, backup, and recovery systems; verifying continuing need for server hardware and software support agreements; determining the benefit versus risk of new software and hardware implementations; and conducting technical reviews of all special projects interfacing with or having a potential impact on university server-based applications.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, Computer Engineering or a related field is required. Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or MCSE certification is a requirement. Two (2) to five (5) years of experience managing a Windows network, including installing, configuring and maintaining networked software as well as a knowledge of network operations and configuration of network services. Experience with UNIX administration is a plus. Microsoft Active Directory or Linux system administration experience, preferred; and A++, Network +, or other related certifications, preferred. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
