The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at St. Mary’s College of Maryland invites applications for two one-year visiting positions in mathematics starting Fall 2017, pending final approval of funding. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in an area of mathematics at the time of the appointment. (Those awaiting their dissertation defense may be considered. If hired, the candidate will serve as visiting instructor of mathematics until terminal degree is acquired.)
A successful applicant will be an outstanding teacher with a commitment to attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups (including women). Applicants are expected to be able to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses, and be dedicated to the liberal arts tradition. The teaching load is three courses per semester. An active research program, with opportunities for undergraduate participation or collaboration with current faculty, is desirable. Any field will be considered, but those with expertise in applied mathematics or statistics are especially encouraged to apply.
