General Resources: Practical Experience
Practical experience is one of the most important aspects of your professional school application, and it will also help you make sure you have chosen the right career field. Click here to read about the HSAC's philosophy on practical experience. Below is a list of some ways that St. Mary's students have gotten practical experience in the past.
Note: Keep track of your practical experience hours religiously. Knowing exactly how many hours you have volunteered/worked in the field will help you later on with the application process, especially with schools that require a certain number of hours. Veterinary schools and physical therapy schools are especially strict about having lots of practical experience.

- For pre- Physical Therapy students: ANOVA Clinic in Leonardtown
- Many of our students have had excellent experiences at the physical therapy center in Leonardtown on Moakley Street.
- Sometimes these experiences have even included following a patient through surgery and rehabilitation. It is in the surgical suite where some students, long committed to Physical Therapy, discover a passion for Osteopathic Surgery.
