Fees and Expenses
Students pay SMCM tuition and mandatory fee to SMCM. Housing, board, insurance fee and local program fees are paid to Akita International University (AIU). For current pricing, please see Akita International University's website at http://www.aiu.ac.jp/en/.

Making Payments
Students who choose to study abroad with St. Mary’s Exchange Semester at Akita International University will be billed for tuition and mandatory fee from the Business Office as part of the normal billing cycle. You will make payments directly to St. Mary's College of Maryland in the same way that you would if you were staying on campus.
Students will make payments for room and board directly to AIU through wire transfer initiated at their U.S. bank. Information about how to set up the wire transfer is available on the Akita Blackboard Course under Financing Study at Akita, Making Payments to AIU.
SMCM Study Abroad Scholarships
St. Mary's offers scholarships for study abroad. There are two competitive application cycles each academic year, the first in the fall for winter break, spring break, or spring semester study abroad and the second in the spring for summer or fall semester study abroad.
Application deadlines are:
October 15 for winter break, spring break and spring semester study abroad
March 1 for summer or fall semester study
