Why James Cook University?
In the words of Kathryn Steinbach ('11)
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STUDY AT JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA?
I chose to study at JCU because I have always wanted to travel abroad to Australia, and JCU (Cairns campus) is set in the most amazing place in Australia. The Cairns campus is completely surrounded by rainforest and you see kangaroos everywhere. There are also five tropical beaches within five minutes of you, and the Great Barrier Reef is literally right off the coast. In addition to its amazing setting, JCU also has a wide variety of courses that fit my major and offered many classes that would allow me to learn about the Australian culture.
WHAT DID YOU EXPERIENCE THERE THAT YOU MIGHT NOT EXPERIENCE ELSEWHERE?
In Australia you experience the Outback and a true tropical environment. I mean who wouldn't want to live in the tropics and see kangaroos everyday? I also experienced aboriginal life, which is really interesting.
WHY SHOULD OTHER STUDENTS STUDY ABROAD?
It's simple. Australia is amazing! You'll have so many memorable experiences there, and you will miss it every day when you get back.
WHY SHOULD OTHER STUDENTS CHOOSE JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY?
If you want to live in a tropical paradise for five months, go to JCU-Cairns campus. It gives you more of a sense of what Australia is really about--tropical beaches, rainforest, wildlife, aboriginal life--everything that makes Australia unique can be found in Cairns. The education is great and you meet the most amazing people. You wont'regret it!
