Each semester, we in the IE Office recruit volunteers to serve as faculty or staff ambassadors to new incoming international exchange students and scholars. We invite you to volunteer to assist these visitors in getting to know life here at the College, in St. Mary's, and in the United States. Learn more...
Interested in hosting an international scholar?
The International Residence (IR) provides a long-term residential space for visiting international scholars affiliated with SMCM academic programs in order to contribute to internationalizing the St. Mary's experience. The IR Is supported by the Office of International Education whose mission is to provide support for students, faculty, administrators, staff, and institutional partners as they collaborate in opportunities for educational and cultural exchange to achieve global awareness and engagement within the framework of the College's commitment to academic excellence.
Situated at Historic St. Mary's City, the IR provides accommodations for up to three visiting scholars at a time, sponsored by an SMCM faculty member. Residencies range from two months to one academic year. Each visiting scholar is given a private bedroom and a shared office or workspace. Residents share bathroom and kitchen facilities plus living room, dining room, screened porch, and peaceful grounds. Learn more or apply...
Tuition Benefits and Study AbroadStudents who receive a tuition waiver for study at St. Mary's may continue to receive this benefit while participating in these St. Mary's Semester or Year Abroad Programs. Benefits may also be used toward tuition fees for St. Mary's study tours.
