Who should use this application?

  • St. Mary's students who are currently enrolled in the undergraduate or MAT degree program at St. Mary's College of Maryland
  • Non-St. Mary's students who are:
    • currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university in the U.S. who are not on academic or disciplinary probation
    • not presently enrolled in a regionally-accredited college or university who have completed at least one year of college-level work; or
    • individuals who have graduated.
  • Faculty and staff who will participate in St. Mary's programs abroad.

Students wishing to apply for admission to St. Mary's College of Maryland should not use this application and should instead visit the Office of Admissions web site.

Admissions Procedures and Requirements for Study Abroad

Study-abroad students will submit forms in two phases: application and pre-departure.

Phase 1: Apply to the Program

To apply, students must be in good standing and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5. Students who do not meet the St. Mary's GPA requirement may request a waiver of this academic policy by writing a letter of appeal to the Academic Policy Committee (APC). The appeal should be submitted to the Academic Policy Committee no later than the study-abroad program application deadlines below.

Please note, each program may maintain its own minimum GPA requirement that is higher than St. Mary's minimum noted above.  Applicants would apply directly to the program and make requests for GPA consideration directly to the program.  Students would not appeal a program GPA requirement through the Academic Policy Committee.

The following forms are due to the Office of International Education by:
October 15 for winter break, spring break, or spring semester study abroad
