Minimum Expected Sanctions

Some violations of the Code of Student Conduct may lead to specific sanctions, depending on any mitigating circumstances. These sanctions are set as a guide to help maintain consistency within the system but the sanctions can be adjusted on a case by case basis to account for any mitigating circumstances.

ALCOHOL VIOLATIONS

(Each case may be subject to an alcohol citation requiring a court appearance in Leonardtown.)

  1. Kegs and other multi-liter violations:
    • First time: parent notification and housing contract revocation.
    • Second time: parent notification and suspension from the College.
  2. Other alcohol violations
    • First time: warning and six-hour alcohol education class with mandatory $20 fee (to pay for supplies and materials).
    • Second time: parent notification, disciplinary probation, and educational project.
    • Third time: parent notification and housing contract revocation or suspension from the College. Referral to an alcohol treatment program may be recommended.

DRUG VIOLATIONS

(Each case is subject to criminal charges requiring a court appearance in Leonardtown.)

PULLING FALSE FIRE ALARMS

PET POLICY VIOLATIONS

  1. Resident student pet owners:
    • First time: $250 cleaning/extermination charge housing contract revocation for one semester.
    • Second time: $250 cleaning/extermination charge and permanent housing contract revocation or suspension.
  2. Commuter student pet owners:
    • First time: $250 cleaning/extermination charge and community service with Physical Plant.
    • Second time: $250 cleaning/extermination charge and suspension for one semester.
  3. Roommates who permit unauthorized pets in their residence:
    • First time: community service project with Physical Plant.
    • Second time: disciplinary probation.

SEXUAL ASSAULT:

The recommended sanctions for Sexual Assault I policy violations shall include disciplinary suspension with additional conditions and expulsion.

The recommended sanctions for Sexual Assault II policy violations shall include, but not be limited to, alteration of schedule, loss of privilege, housing contract revocation, disciplinary suspension and expulsion.
