Additional Campus Resources
Welcome to the St. Mary's College of Maryland Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) Student Services website! Please explore the links on this page to view the services and opportunities open to LGBTQ students and allies. LGBTQ is an anogram for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer, however LGBTQ really encompasses all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions not just those who identify as LGBTQ.
Next week, we'll begin LGBTQ pride month at SMCM. We call it "Gaypril" (catchy, right?), but we're celebrating ALL gender identities and sexualities in the LGBTQ, etc. acronym. Here are our events for this year's celebration:
Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3, 8:00 PM:
"The Laramie Project", by Moisés Kaufman - a staged reading
dir. Erica Burns
in The White Room
The Laramie Project chronicles the life of the town of Laramie in the year after the murder of a young gay man named Matthew Shepard, using eight actors to embody more than sixty different people in their own words-from rural ranchers to university professors. The result is a complex portrayal that dispels the simplistic media stereotypes and explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.
RSVP to the Facebook event here.
Thursday, April 10, 3:00-7:00 PM:
To the Acronym, And Beyond!
in Aldom Lounge
A fair celebrating the lesser-known letters in, and out of, the acronym. Come by and chat about bisexual, pansexual, anthrosexual, queer, asexual, trans/trans*, genderqueer identities and more! We'll have info on what these identities are, rights and issues in these communities, sexual health info, and cool resources and pride gear. Want to see something specific there or table? Let us know on this form, or e-mail us at email@example.com.

Friday, April 18, 3:00-5:00 PM
in Glendening Annex
Celebrating the achievements of the LGBTQA community, Lavender Graduation recognizes the accomplishments of these students and reminds us of our community while we celebrate the graduation of our friends, peers and students. RSVP here, whether you're a graduating student wishing to be recognized, or just want to show your support! RSVP by April 11.
Monday, April 21, 8:15 PM
Film Screening: "My Beautiful Laundrette"
in Cole Cinema
A young man in a Pakistani family living in London tries to balance gaining and holding a promising job with rekindling a relationship with a previous boyfriend. He struggles to fulfill his family's expectations and pressure to marry, while protecting himself and their love from his lover's prejudiced and violent friends.
