Borrowing Materials
The following individuals are able to borrow materials from the SMCM Library:
- St. Mary's students, staff and faculty
- St. Mary's alumni
- St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles County residents
- USMAI Researchers
Almost all materials can be renewed up to 3 times online by accessing your library account. Overdue fines are applicable to certain materials. Please read our Overdue Fines Policy for details.
Books
St. Mary's students, staff, and alumni; tri-county residents; and USMAI researchers may check out books for a 28 day period. Books checked out to faculty are due back either on May 1st or December 1st (depending on when they were checked out during the academic year).
Movies & Music
DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, and LPs are loaned for 3 days. Faculty may reserve a film for in-class viewing by submitting an Advance Film Reservation Request online.
Laptops
Only current St. Mary's students may check out laptops. There are 5 laptops available for 2 week loan periods and 5 laptops available for 3 hour loan periods. All laptops are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Electronic peripherals
Extension cords, headphones, flash drives, external DVD drives, and laptop chargers are available for 6 hour loans.
Course Reserves
Loan periods for reserves vary but will be either 3 hours, overnight, or 3 days, as determined by the course instructor.
