Dr. Sandy Ganzell, Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Sandy received his PhD at Rice University in 2000, he held
postdoctoral research positions in both Psychology and Mathematics at
Rice and then was a visiting professor at Pomona College for
four year. Sandy's specialty is Knot theory, not “not theory”,
but “knot theory” and four dimensional spaces. Sandy was an
All-American Gymnast.
Alex Meadows, Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Alex did his
BA at Williams College, his PhD at Stanford, where he graduated in
2002. For the last three year Alex has been on a research and
teaching NSF postdoctoral position at Cornell. Alex's specialty is
Partial Differential Equations.
LUG (Linux User's Group) Continues!
The St. Mary's Mathematics and Computer Science department at St. Mary's is
proud that ten Computer Science Majors and seven Mathematics majors have successfully
applied to internships and are now working as interns.
Taiwo (Tenny) Salau, Brittany Edison, Katherine Socha,
Heather Langdon, Kehinde (Kenny) Salau
Tenny,
Brittany, Heather, and Kenny were MAA (Mathematics Association of America) summer interns doing
undergraduate research at IUPUI (Indiana University - Purdue University
Indianapolis).
For more information and a list of the companies that employ the interns, see here.
Dr. Katherine Socha, Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Katherine's current area of interest is the study of water waves, in the remarkably different shallow water and deep water regimes, through analysis of the differential equations that describe surface wave motion. Katherine received her BA at Reed College and her PhD at The University of Texas at Austin.
The St. Mary's Mathematics and Computer Science department at St. Mary's is proud that eleven Computer Science Majors and eight Mathematics majors have successfully applied to internships and are now working as interns.
