Keep in touch with your classmates

Where do the stories for the Alumni Connection come from? Most come directly from you in letters or e-mail updates. We also search public sources, news clippings, the Internet, and press releases sent by your employers. Your classmates will want to hear what your new research grant or your new job is all about, what your graduate degree is in, your trip, your marriage, or your expanding family. Submissions may be edited for style and length.

Photos are welcome. Did you meet with other alumni recently? Send us the photo. Please remember to turn your digital camera to high resolution; please identify people in the photo, including the years of the other alumni. Your deadline for the fall Mulberry Tree: August 31, 2008

How to send news and to change your address: Contact your Alumni Office by e-mail, alumnioffice@smcm.edu; by phone, 800-458-8341; or fax, 240-895-2112; or from the College Web site, www.smcm.edu/alum/.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Your alumni team, Dave Sushinsky '02 and Beth Byrd

Sushinsky and Byrd

David Sushinsky is the new director of alumni relations and planned giving in the Office of Development, taking over for Dirk Griffith '79, who had worked for the College since 1990 in various roles. Dave, of Rockville, Maryland, is a 2002 graduate of St. Mary's with a degree in political science and economics. He has been an assistant director of admissions in the Office of Admissions and director of the St. Mary's Alumni Recruitment Team (SMART), where he supervised a network of more than 200 alumni to assist admissions in out-of-state recruiting.

Many alums haven't been back here since graduation," says Sushinsky. "We want to engage them more and have the kind of events, like Reunion and Governor's Cup, that will bring them back."

Beth Byrd, whom many of you have spoken with, has been promoted from assistant director of alumni relations to associate director.
