Marriages and Unions

Charles F. Wolf III ’76 and Shirley Ann Dick were married, both for the first time, on September 20, 2009, at Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Mary’s City after a long-distance courtship that started with a blind date. After helping each other through a particularly trying time, they knew they were meant to be together. Their honeymoon was an unhurried road trip from Maryland to Kentucky. Charles grew up in St. Mary’s County where he ran the family farm, worked as a gymnasium supervisor at Somerset Hall on campus, as a waterman, and also worked at Carroll’s Equipment. Shirley retired after 34 years as a teacher and administrator for Somerset Independent Schools in Somerset, Kentucky. Charles’ paintings and drawings have been displayed at the College and used to illustrate academic catalogs and the Avatar, among other publications. One of his paintings, “Expressionism Class, 1976” hangs in the Office of Alumni Relations. The campus bookstore sells note cards with his sketches of St. John’s Pond and other campus sights; and Trinity Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall has a print of his Great Horned Owl watercolor. Charles hopes to resume his art career from his new studio in the couple’s home in Somerset.

 

 

Brandi Hill ’98 and Mike Piccinino were married on New Year’s Eve 2009 at the Marriott waterfront hotel in Baltimore. The wedding party included Kim Benefield David ’98, Angie Mogensen ’98, Nicki Ferramosca ’ 98, Kathryn Ingraham Applewhaite ’98 and Gia Trionfo ’99. In attendance were Steve Capece ’97, Jennifer Boisseau Capece ’97, Chris Hammond ’96, Elaine Orozco-Hammond ’97, Rodry Webb ’97, Marie Johnson ’98, Rob Peters ’97, Drew Schneider ’00, Danielle Diblasi ’97 and Chih Garbus ’94. The couple spent their honeymoon in the Caribbean on the Turks and Caicos Islands. Brandi is a reading recovery teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools in Silver Spring, Maryland; Mike is a senior analyst for PFC Energy in Washington, D.C. The couple lives in Columbia, Maryland.

 

 

 

Paul Broccolina ’00 and Stephanie Kathleen Bill were married June 5, 2010, in the Garden of Remembrance at St. Mary’s. Members of the wedding party included Keith Sinnott ’00, Adam Shampaine ’02 and Kevin Robinson ’00. Among the wedding guests were Karen Nichols ’02, Rick Fredricks ’01, Katie Dutton ’01, Justin Nash ’01, Joe Valentino ’05, Josh Alexander ’01, Maria Flynn ’02, Courtney Holt ’12, Christopher Holt ’86, Terry Borgerding Holt ’83, Terrence Buckley ’01, Kate Kiemle Buckley ’01 and Dave Adams ’00. The couple honeymooned in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Paul is the general manager for the Annapolis Ruth’s Chris Steak House; Stephanie is the catering sales manager for the Annapolis Chart House. The couple lives in Annapolis.

 

Laura Carrier ’02 and Andrew Wood were married October 17, 2009, at St. James’ Parish in Lothian, Maryland. The wedding party included Emily Gleason Groves ’02. Alums in attendance included Tara Jensen Creamer ’99, Zachery Groves ’02 and Elaine Chun ’03. The reception was held along the Patuxent River at the Marlborough Hunt Club in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The newlyweds honeymooned in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Laura earned her master’s degree in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University in 2009, and is the associate director of corporate and foundation relations at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Andrew also works at the Foundation as the senior facilities manager. Andrew proposed by hand-planting 1,000 marigolds to spell out “Marry Me, Laura?” so it was visible as the couple flew overhead. Laura and Andrew live in Annapolis.

 

Todd Brooks ’03 and Jocelyn Lynch were married May 8, 2010, at Evergreen House Museum and Library in Baltimore. Members of the wedding party included Joseph Heckwolf ’03 and Andrew Gerner ’03. Andrew Coonan ’04, Terry Hagerty ’04, Jeffrey Peyton ’04, and Kyle Gahan ’04 were among the wedding guests. The Honorable James A. Kenney, III, an adjunct professor at the College, officiated. The couple honeymooned at Emerald Bay in Great Exuma, Bahamas. They live and work in Baltimore. Todd is a litigation and bankruptcy attorney with the firm, Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LL P; Jocelyn is a marketing associate with Charm City Concierge. The couple lives in Federal Hill with their cats, Logan and Frankie, and their dogs, Chance and Fiona.

 

 

Erin Taylor ’03 and Fernando Hoces de la Guardia, of Santiago, Chile, were married June 6, 2010, at her parents’ home in Bethesda. Wedding guests included the bride’s brother and sisterin-law, Jeffrey Taylor ’08 and Stefanie Esworthy Taylor ’08; Mark Hershfield ’00 and Amy Butler ’04. Watching via internet were Tenley Martin ’03, in England, and Maggie Wear ’04, in California. In January 2011, everyone will celebrate the wedding with Fernando’s family and friends in Santiago, Chile. The couple met at the University of Pennsylvania where Erin is a doctoral student in health economics and Fernando received his master’s degree in economics. He now works as a consultant for the World Bank. The couple will split their time between Philadelphia and Santiago.

 

Mia Oliver ’04 and Colin Woods ’05 were married May 22, 2010, in her family’s backyard in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Erin Fitzpatrick ’04, Justin Bates ’06, Rob Hewitt ’03, and David Sushinsky ’02 were in the wedding party. Kate Walters ’04 and Stacy Mann ’04 were readers. Greg Maly ’05 provided the music. The couple honeymooned in Riviera Maya in Mexico. Mia is a pediatric nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital and is also working on her master’s degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Mia was inducted into the College’s Athletic Hall of Fame during this year’s Hawktober Festival. Colin works at the Kennedy Kreiger Institute and plans to begin a master’s degree program in occupational therapy. The couple lives in Federal Hill.

 

Kenny Williams ’04 and Kira Beddard ’06 were married May 2, 2010, at the Statehouse in Historic St. Mary’s City. In the wedding party were best man Jason Williams ’07 and groomsmen John Spinneweber ’05 and Matthew Simmons ’04. Isabel Spake ’07, Andrea Kordonski ’06, Stephanie Franklin ’06, Jaclyn Sumner ’07, Colin Shores ’04, Michelle Toussaint Adams ’04, Zachary Adams ’05, Jennifer Estevez Meyer ’05, Kevin Meyer ’05, Jessica Kemp Sohn ’05, Andrew Sohn ’06, Tracy Vallandingham ’04, Raymon Simmons ’06, and Sarah Tennent Simmons ’06 were among the wedding guests. The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia. Kenny is a business financial manager for the Navy at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Kira earned her master’s degree in education this year from Towson University and is a certified reading specialist. She teaches fourth grade at George Washington Carver Elementary School in Lexington Park. The couple and their cat, Bella, live in Lexington Park.

 

Jennifer Wong ’04 and Brent Cernak were married July 10, 2010, at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Jennifer has been teaching for five years and currently teaches third grade at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Day School in Edgewater, Maryland. Brent works in the information technology department at Thomas Associates in Stevensville, Maryland. The couple lives in Chester, Maryland.

 

Melissa Benner ’05 and Matthew Bolich were married June 12, 2010, at the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum in Berlin, Maryland. The couple honeymooned in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Melissa is a computer room operator for the Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company; Matt recently graduated from Salisbury University with a bachelor’s degree in history. The couple lives in Berlin, Maryland.

Daniel James Moss ’06 and Kathleen Barbara Frana ’07 were married May 1, 2010, at Janes Island in Crisfield, Maryland. The wedding party, shown here, included Ashley Lynn Meadows ’07 on the far left and Michael Lee Moss ’08 next to the groom. After the wedding, the couple moved to Salisbury, Maryland, where Daniel is completing his Masters of the Arts in Teaching degree at Salisbury University, and Kathleen works at Greenbranch Organic Farm.

 

 

 

Nikki Porter ’06 and Brad Sappington were married November 16, 2008, in Baltimore, Maryland. Nikki’s sisters, Jessica Porter ’08 and Amanda Porter ’11 were in the wedding party. Daniel Moss ’06, Kathleen Frana Moss ’07, Caitlin Burlett ’06, Jesse Kayan ’06, Melissa Mandell ’06 and Katie Sill ’06 attended the wedding. The couple honeymooned in Costa Rica. Nikki works as a program administrator for a local non-profit and is pursuing her master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL ) at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Brad is a software engineer. They live in Baltimore.

 

 

 

 

Jennifer Connolly ’07 and Justin Sevier were married June 5, 2010, at the Anchor Inn in Pasadena, Maryland. The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico. Jennifer received a master’s of science degree in counseling psychology from Loyola University in 2009 and is a full-time psychology associate at the Patuxent Institution in Jessup, Maryland. Justin is a project manager and server engineer for a web hosting company. The couple and their two dogs, Molly and Zoey, live in Middle River, Maryland.

 

 

 

 

Graham Day ’07 and Arianna Hammond ’07 were married June 13, 2009, at Woodlawn Farm in Ridge, Maryland. Aaron Hammond ’07 was a groomsman. Jarra Ababiya ’07, Andrew McCarty ’06, Robert Rust ’06, Peter Heliotis ’07, and Dav Yuan ’06 attended the wedding. The couple honeymooned in northern California, visiting Carmel, Napa Valley and San Francisco. Arianna is the southern regional resource coordinator for Maryland’s Commitment to Veterans, an information and referral project; Graham is a partner with Applied Systems Marketing in Waldorf. The couple lives in La Plata, Maryland.

 

 

 

 

Amelia Fort ’07 and Brent Kolb were married July 3, 2010, at historic Greenbank Farm on Whidbey Island in Washington. Tiffany Deutscher ’07 was in the wedding party. Zach Borman ’08, Julia Burton ’08, Molly Hubbs ’07, Megan Hickman ’07, and Elaina Weinbach ’06 were among the wedding guests. Amelia is a graduate student in the Marine and Estuarine Science Program at Western Washington University; Brent is a Navy Lieutenant and flies the EA-6B (Prowler) jet plane at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The couple lives in Oak Harbor, Washington.

 

 

 

 

Stephanie Schepp ’07 and Andrew Gordon were married October 18, 2009, at ThorpeWood in the Catoctin Mountains near Thurmont, Maryland. Erica Markiewicz Hadfield ’07 was matron of honor. Sarah Hunter ’07, Rebecca White ’07, Diane Cordani ’07, Ashley Fussell ’07, Hannah Kampmeyer ’07, and Cassie Ruiz ’07 were wedding guests. The couple took a Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon. Stephanie works for Volunteer Frederick in Frederick, Maryland, and Andrew works for National Summer Learning Association in Baltimore. The couple lives in Frederick.

 

 

Paula Zweimiller ’08 and Adam Causey were married June 19, 2010, at Mary’s Hope on Church Cove in Saint Inigoes, Maryland. Lydia Zweimiller ’10, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas. Paula teaches fourth grade in the St. Mary’s County public school system; Adam is a meat cutter for McKay’s grocery stores. The couple lives in Great Mills, Maryland.

 

 

 

 

 

Jill Clemmer ’09 and Esrael Seyum ’09 were married July 17, 2010, at the Mosaic Church in Washington, D.C. The wedding party included maid of honor Vanessa Butanis ’07, bridesmaids Kathleen Kang ’08, Bonnie McCubbin ’09 and Lisa Wood ’06, and groomsmen Clinton Gilbert ’07, Jordan Grant ’09 and Kyle Williams ’09. Kaycee Mullins ’08 served as wedding day coordinator. During the ceremony, Zachary Cooke ’10 sang and played guitar while Megan Howell ’09 accompanied on the flute. Wedding guests included Joshua Booth ’08, Autumn Capers ’11, Kasinda Cargill ’08, Laura Hansston ’07, Stephanie Isberg ’08, Victoria Jones ’06, James McSavaney ’08, Lauren Ramsay ’10, Sunny Schnitzer ’09, Jeff Stillwell ’08, Lauren Thompson ’04, JaVon Townsend ’10 and Jenna Voorhees ’08. The couple celebrated with two receptions: an afternoon dessert reception at the Rockville Presbyterian Church in Rockville, followed by an evening Eritrean dinner reception in Washington, D.C. Esrael works with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at the University of Maryland College Park. Jill is employed as a Spiritual Formation Coordinator with the Rockville Presbyterian Church. Both Jill and Esrael also work as overnight staff for Rainbow Place, a women’s shelter in Rockville. The couple lives in University Park, Maryland.

Katherine Mast ’10 and Andrew Bartz were married June 5, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morganza, Maryland. The couple took a cruise to the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands for their honeymoon. Katie is enrolled in the College’s Master of Arts Teaching program; Andrew works in the Steamfitters Union in Washington, D.C. The couple lives in Hollywood, Maryland.
