Edgardo Malaga Jr., bassist, earned his bachelor of music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and his master of music degree at the University of Maryland, where he studied with Henry Portnoi, Curtis Burris and Harold Robinson. Mr. Malaga has performed frequently with the National Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, and Virginia Symphony. He has also performed extensively with the Washington Opera, and recently toured Japan with that company. He has served as principal bass for numerous Washington Concert Opera performances and has also performed regularly with Baltimore Opera and Wolf Trap Opera. A member of the Washington Ballet Orchestra, he was featured on the double bass as soloist in Kevin Mackenzie's production of Lucy and the Count by Jon Deak. As a chamber musician, he is a member of the Fessenden Ensemble; he has also performed with the Left Bank String Quartet and for the Smithsonian Institute as well as with Daniel Heifetz and the Classical Band. |
