St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host Latin jazz group The Sabor Trio as part of the inaugural American Roots concert series. The concert will take place on the Campus Center patio at 7 p.m. on July 11th.
The Sabor Trio formed in 2008 in Charlottesville, VA, when classically-trained guitarist Peter Richardson first began performing with drummer Brian Caputo and bassist Darrell Muller. The group’s repertoire covers a wide range of Latin and American jazz from many eras, and their sound is a unique mix of samba, salsa, Brazilian choro, and Cuban son, along with the essences of many other musical styles. The trio format is open and flexible, allowing the audience to experience the improvisation and fun onstage chemistry that defines the group. This concert is free to the public, and parking is also free. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs, and refreshments. Voluntary donations are encouraged and will support future concerts at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
