Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Studies Katy Arnett was the keynote speaker at the annual conference of the Second Languages and Intercultural Council, held in Canmore, Alberta on October 24 and 25. Her keynote was entitled “The Changing Faces in Canadian Classrooms: Lessons for and about Linguistic and Cultural Diversity.”
Assistant Professor of Biochemistry Craig Streu has been featured in the November issue of the American Scientist Magazine. Streu was interviewed about his research program and experiences in STEM education.

Associate Professor of History Adriana Brodsky will present the lecture “Between Community and Aliyah: Young Sephardim in the 1960s” at the University of California, Irvine on November 4. The lecture is part of the university’s Jewish Studies event, “Transnational, Diasporic and Local Challenges: Argentine Jews in the 20th Century.”

Professor of Psychology and Dean of the Core Curriculum Elizabeth Nutt Williams was named the Section for the Advancement of Women of the Society of Counseling Psychology’s Woman of the Year for 2013. The award was presented at the American Psychological Association meeting.
Assistant Professor of Theater, Dance and Movement Leonard Cruz will present his research study on “Integrative Health Coaching and Senior Dance Majors as they Transition to the Work Force” for Duke University’s Integrative Medicine program on Oct. 19 and 20.
While some of his teenage peers spent their summers hanging out at the pool and playing sports,Catonsville resident Patrick McMann spent his past three vacations from school cleaning cages and working with wild animals.
