The Dance for the Camera series at St. Mary’s College of Maryland concludes with a full evening of short films, beginning at 8:15 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Cole Cinema in the Campus Center. Seven films will be shown, each less than 20 minutes in length; film topics vary greatly, ranging from the real to the abstract. Sponsored by the Department of Theater, Film, and Media Studies, the series showcases films made by choreographers, or by filmmakers collaborating with choreographers, including award-winning films spanning narrative, documentary, and experimental genres. It is presented with support from the college’s Arts Alliance in collaboration with the Dance Films Association, whose annual Dance On Camera Festival is presented in New York City.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
