St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host the third concert of the fourteenth annual River Concert Series on Friday, July 6, 2012. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.
The evening’s program will celebrate the Fourth of July, with guest jazz vocalist Hilary Kole making her second River Concert Series appearance. This year, Kole will provide accompaniment to classic American tunes. The Chesapeake Orchestra will perform John Williams’ celebrated motion picture themes for Superman and The Patriot, and the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will make an appearance in Morton Gould’s “The Hosedown.” The night will conclude with the “1812 Overture” and fireworks.
Hilary Kole has entertained through song since she was five years old. Her career has taken her to jazz clubs from New York to Japan and she has performed at a number of prestigious events including an Emmy party in honor of Oprah Winfrey, the 2004 Superbowl, and at a number of famous jazz festivals. Most recently, Kole has been touring the country with pops orchestras. She recently released her second jazz album, which was met with much applause from critics.
The River Concert Series is free and open to the public.
