Who teaches in the Program?

The Leadership Seminar rotates among professors from the four divisions at St. Mary's College. Since all fields are attempts to 'map' the world and to shape experience, professors from a wide variety of fields have a stake in and a commitment to the Program. The second seminar will be taught by professors who have expert knowledge of specific regions of the world and who have traveled extensively in those regions.

The Nitze Experience

The Paul H. Nitze Program offers:

  • A Leadership Seminar

  • A Study Abroad Tour paid for by the program

  • A stipend of $3000 per year for participants

Topics for Nitze Seminars include:

  • Education, Leadership and Social Change (1999)

  • The U.S. War in Vietnam: American and Vietnamese Perspectives (2001)

  • Shakespeare's London (2003)

Nitze Fellows include:

  • Benjamin L. Cardin, U.S. Representatiive

  • Penfield Jackson, District Court Judge

  • Mario Livio, Astronomer
