Sybol Cook Anderson (Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University) is an assistant professor of philosophy specializing in social and political philosophy and the work of Hegel. She also teaches courses in ethics (including the philosophy of love) and in modern and Continental philosophy. Her current research explores the possibility of a liberal politics of recognition and considers especially the contemporary relevance of Hegel's social theory for such a project. She is a former Ford Foundation Fellow and a current recipient of the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Henry C. Welcome Grant. She is co-editor with Robert Bernasconi of Race and Racism in Continental Philosophy , and, with Ellen K. Feder and Karmen MacKendrick, of A Passion for Wisdom: Readings in Western Philosophy on Love and Desire .
