Pi Sigma Alpha is the national political science honor society, founded in 1920. The SMCM chapter, Sigma Omicron, was chartered in 1992.
Undergraduate candidates for membership are selected from students in their junior and senior years. Primary qualifications include high scholarship, demonstrated interest in political science, and promise of achievement in one's chosen field. Membership in Pi Sigma Alpha provides various benefits including eligibility for Washington internship scholarships, graduate school scholarships, and cash awards for class papers and senior projects.
