Student-Initiated Diversity Experience

An alternative way to fulfill the Diversity Requirement in Psychology is through the completion of a student-initiated diversity experience.

If the diversity requirements have been fulfilled outside of the course and experiential options, a 1 to 2-page proposal regarding this experience should be submitted to the Diversity Committee by the end of the 4th week of the semester. This submission should include:

The scholarly paper must be 12 to 20 pages, include at least 8 scholarly sources (e.g., journal articles, primary source books), and is due by the last day of classes of the semester in which the student wishes to fulfill the diversity requirement. The diversity committee will evaluate the paper to determine if the objectives of the diversity requirement were achieved. Papers that fail to satisfy the diversity requirement can be revised and re-evaluated if done so prior to the end of the Incomplete period of the following semester. Graduating seniors are encouraged to turn in their paper several weeks prior to this deadline to allow for revision and resubmission in the event that the paper fails to satisfy the requirement.
