Class of 2009

Rob Blackwell was a research assistant at University of Maryland School of Medicine in FA09 & SP10. He is now a pilot for the United States Navy.

Jill Bradley works for the Board of Child Care.

Katie Cain expects to complete her MPH from Hunter College in 2013. Meanwhile, she is a Public Health Outreach Coordinator for the Union Settlement Association.

Maya Cosentino is pursuing her MD from Universitat Witten/Herdecke (Uni WH) in Germany.

Erika Delanoy completed her Masters in Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin in 2011. She interned  in Hospice/Palliative Care at the department of Veteran Affairs for 5 months and is now currently a social worker for Family Preservation Services in Charlottesville, VA.

Heather DeMarr is Studying Applied Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of Technology. She is currently a Behavior Specialist at the Scott Center for Autism Treatment.

Justin Eid has earned an MHA (Mentoring Human Action) Certification and is now a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselor and Specialist (specializing in those with severe DSM: Axis I mental illnesses) with Key Point Health Services.

Valerie Freund is a private nanny.

Hannah Fegley is working towards an MSW at Smith College School for Social Work. Hannah says,

"Smith College's MSW program is a unique, clinically-focused, block schedule program. Students take all of their academic classes over 3 summers (22 credits/summer) and then spend 8 months at a field site (30 hours/week). I just finished my first summer and am currently a social work intern at Sheppard Pratt's Mann Residential Treatment Center, providing individual, family and group therapy. Tashia Graham is currently working for Victory Programs, Inc. an agency based in Boston that provides innovative services to individuals and their families who are affected by alcoholism and addiction, and who have psychiatric and medical problems, especially AIDS/HIV disease. She works in human resources, with the primary role of recruiting counselors and other mental health staff for their programs. Elli Gutowski is a Community Health Agent for HIV/AIDS with the Peace Corps and is currently serving in the Southeastern African country of Malawi.

Makeyda Hilliard worked as a Student Life Assistant at the Seed School of Maryland. She expects to complete her Master's in School Counseling at Trinity Washington University in 2012.

Katie Klotz is an Orthopedic Technician for the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Annapolis, Md.

Kay Lamar expects to complete her studies in Social Psychology at Claremont Graduate University in 2012.

Christa McAllister serves as the Student Life Coordinator of the Leonardtown campus at College of Southern Maryland. She is responsible for placement test advising, student development, advising Student Activities Committee, training and supervising campus clubs/organizations and their staff/faculty advisors, and student programming. Christa plans to go back to school in the next 2 years for a Masters degree in Counseling or Higher Education Administration.

Marie Oben completed her MS in Kinesiology, Cognitive Motor Neuroscience at UMCP in 2011.

Samantha Ortiz completed her Masters in Social Work at the University of Maryland in 2011. She currently works for Sheppard Pratt Health Systems.

Katheryn Nehez is studying at the School of Nursing of University of Texas at Arlington. She is also currently a Patient Care Tech at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation.

Jennifer "Niki" Novak earned her Master's degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chestnut Hill College in 2011. She is currently a service coordinator for Pathways to Housing DC.

Jessica Powers expects to complete the Physician Assistant program at Salas University in 2012.

Jori Sapper completed the MAT program at SMCM. She is currently a 2nd grade teacher at The Westminster School.

Emily Smithson expects to earn Master's of Arts and Educational Specialist in School Psychology from James Madison University in 2012.

Katie Soleo currently works for Coherent Technical Services, Inc. (CTSi) in Lexington Park, MD.

Judy Songrady works with Dr. Suomi in the Laboratory of Comparative Ethology, Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD, NIH.

Lindsey Sitz is an Assistant Teacher at Ivymount School.

Marian Studies pursued graduate studies in Clinical Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. She currently works at the Maryland Science Center.

Melodi Wilkie earned her MA in Clinical Psychology from Towson University in 2011.

Gina (White) Sheets is a Clinical Assistant II at Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Josh Whitt is currently a graduate research assistant at University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he is pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience.

Tori Whitlow expects to complete her MD at University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2013.

Class of 2008

Esther Adetunji earned her JD at Boston College Law School in '11. She worked as a legal intern in Pretoria North, Gauteng, South Africa for the Refugee and Migrant Worker Rights Programme of Lawyers for Human Rights for 5 months. She is currently preparing for the Bar Exam and hopes to become an international law litigator.

Oluwatonsin (Liz) Babaloa expects to complete her graduate studies at Brown University in 2013.

April Corrice is a Research Analyst for Organizational and Management Studies in the Office of the Executive Vice President of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in Washington, D.C.

Amanda Collins worked at Nida (National Institute on Drug Abuse)/ NIH. She is currently employed at Westat.

Jenalee Coster is pursuing her MD from University of Maryland at Baltimore. She hopes to complete her studies in 2012.

Madeline Eberhardt earned her MAT from SMCM in 2009 and is currently a third grade teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools.

Daniel Hawkins works for Tox Path Specialists.

Justine Hoewing completed her MAT in Early Childhood Education from SMC in 2010 and is now a lead Pre-K teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools.

Christopher Hughes spent a year as a Professional Psychology Trainee for the Devereux Foundation in PA following his graduation from SMC. He began coursework towards an EdS in Child, Family & School Psychology at Denver University in the Sept. 2009 and plans to complete his studies in 2013.

Christopher Kauffman has worked at Pathways, Inc. and Weiko. He is currently working towards his Masters in Social Welfare at UCLA.

Shannon Kummer is a Research Associate at United Biosource Corporation (UBC). In her position there, Shannon does qualitative research with patients in a variety of disease areas. She conducts focus groups and interviews with patients, manages logistic and financial aspects of projects, analyzes qualitative data, writes proposals, protocols and reports, and works directly with pharmeceutical and government clients. She has been with UBC for over 3 years and loves it.

Vanessa Medley is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology, with a focus on Cognitive and Neural Systems, at UMCP.

Caitlin Moore works for Booz Allen Hamilton.

Ben Patterson expects to complete his Master's in Public Policy at UMCP in 2013.

Sara Rubinstein earned her MA in Dance/Movement Therapy from Drexel University in 2010. She is currently a Dance/Movement Therapist for Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Brendan Spealman is a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and serves as a Combat Engineer Platoon Commander.

Kaitlin Taylor completed her Master's degree from Simmons College in 2011 and currently works for Newton Public Schools in Massachusetts.

Theresa Tenaglia is currently a Management Analyst/Attorney Recruitment Coordinator for the Department of Justice, Civil Division. She is also working towards an MA in Aging Services at UMBC and expects to complete her studies in 2011.

Brittanny (Wilson) Petrzala is a Community Support Specialist for the Southern Maryland Community Network. she expects to complete her studies in Professional Marriage and Family Couseling at Liberty University in 2013.

Paula Zweimiller completed the MAT program at SMCM in June 2009 and is now a 4th grade teacher for SMCPS at Town Creek Elementary.

Class of 2007

Kerry Buechler earned her MS in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. She currently works as a TA in early intervention for toddlers with autism at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders of Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Colin Black completed graduate studies at Loyola University. He currently teaches high school for the Montgomery County Public Schools System.

Jennifer (Connolly) Siever completed her MS in Counseling Psychology at Loyola University of MD in 2009. Since then she has served in a variety of positions, including as an intern for The House of Ruth Maryland, as a Mental Health Worker for the Trauma Disorders Unit of Sheppard Pratt Health Systems and as a Psychology Associate for the Correctional Mental Health Center in Jessup, MD. She is currently a psychotherapist for Key Point Health Services.

Megan Farley completed her MSW at Boston College in 2009. She is currently a social worker for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.

Ranwa Hammamy earned her Masters in Public Health, Community Health Education at UMCP in 2010. She is currently a Research Study Assistant at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Pennsylvania.

Jessica Hoehn is a Psychology Testing Technician at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

Ayse (Ikizler) Selin worked as a research associate for American Institutes for Research in Washington, D.C. for three years following graduation. She is currently a TA and Research Assistant at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she is pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology. She expects to complete her studies in 2014.

Karin Jensvold expects to complete her studies at Charleston Law in 2012.

Hillary Leech is currently pursuing her M.Ed. in Speech-Language Pathology at University of Virginia.

Hannah (Lichtenstein) Graves has been working as a Senior Research Assistant at Brown University's Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies since 2008.  In the fall of 2011, she also started part time at Brown University for her Masters in Behavioral and Social Sciences Interventions (BSSI).   

Joshua Lubben is a Senior Admissions Counselor for UMBC.

Michelle (Mason) Malone completed her MAT at SMCM in 2008. She currently works for St. Mary's County Public Schools.

Andrea (Bancells) Moser earned an MS in Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. She was a Teaching Assistant at Kennedy Krieger Institute for 4 years and is now working for Richcroft, Inc.

Jackie McGill earned her MD from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2011. She is currently a Family Medicine Resident for Moses Cone Health System in NC.

Keeney Reidel-Gabrielle is an Implementation Analyst for Visa.

Cassie Ruiz is a Surgery Technician for Charles River and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute - Janelia Farm Research Campus located in Ashburn, VA.

Caitlin Gore Ward worked with Intellectual Property Law for Finnegan Henderson for 2 years. She is expects to complete her studies in Nursing at Johns Hopkins University in 2012.

Brittney Zakielarz expects to complete her Master's degree in School Psychology at Towson University in 2012. She is currently a School Psychology Intern for Harford County Public Schools and a promotional model for Preston Marketing Concepts in Baltimore.

Class of 2006

Cori Brooks completed her MS in Criminal Justice, Criminology at University of Baltimore in 2009.

Dian Dinh works for the Baltimore County Public Library. She is married to psyc alum James Poimos '06.

Stephanie Gardiner earned her M.A. in Industrial Psychology from Hofstra University in 2008. She is a Talent Management Analyst for Arrow Electronics, Inc.

Diana Gayle expects to complete her studies in Mental Health Therapy at Capella University in 2012.

Jonathan Hege worked as a Data Analyst for comScore for four years following graduation. He is currently a Web Analyst for The Washington Post.

Gregory Horvitz earned his Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland in 2008 and is currently an Information Research Specialist for Northrop Grumman.

Laurie (Kloster) Filer earned an MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2008. She is currently working as a Human Resources Specialist for the United States Office of Personnel Management.

Erica Mundle studied Administration at McDaniel College. She is currently 4th Grade Classroom Teacher at Norrisville Elementary School in Pennsylvania.

Katelyn Opel is a graduate student in the University of Maryland's Family Studies masters program in hopes of pursuing a career in marital therapy.

Nick Pennington is an Account Executive at Screen Designs & Promotions.

Katie (Ryan) Albritton earned her M.Ed. - Early Childhood Special Education from UMCP in 2009. She is currently a LD Special Ed. Teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools.

Leo Schlosnagle earned a Ph.D. in life-span developmental psychology from West Virginia University in 2011.  Most of his research focuses on how adults of different ages make monetary investment decisions.  His area of inquiry shares a lot in common with behavioral economics, and his research employs correlational and experimental methods. Leo feels that the undergraduates at SMCM who plan to pursue graduate degrees might be especially interested in some of WVU's programs, and suggests such students visit the WVU web site at http://psychology.wvu.edu/. Currently, Leo is the Research & Resource Development Manager at the Center for Excellence in Disabilities at WVU.

Alexis Seneff earned her MSHS in Physican Assistant Studies from The George Washington University in 2010. She is currently a Critical Care PA Residen at John Hopkins Hospital.

Holly Stone earned her M.Ed. (Special Education: Severe Disabilities) from Vanderbilt University in 2010.

Alison Travers completed her graduate studies at John's Hopkins University in 2009 and is currently a biologist at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Christine Cramer earned her Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University in 2009. She is now working towards her PhD in Marriage, Family, and Human Development at BYU (Brigham Young University)

Katie Eck earned her Masters Degree in School Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2008 and is currently a School Counselor for Washington County Public Schools.

Emily Flanagan served in the Peace Corps in Brahmanbaria, Dhaka, Bangladesh, for the year following graduation and then for Americorps Boston Cares & Hands On Network the year after that. She earned her Masters degree in International Relations from Harvard University in 2010 and currently works as an employment specialist for Partnership Development Group Rehabilitation Services in Baltimore, MD.

Eleanor Fletcher earned her MS in Occupational Therapy from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2009 and is now an Occupational Therapist for Children's Therapy Associates.

Carrie Grisham is pursuing a PsyD in Psychology from George Washinton University. She expects to complete her studies in 2014.

Makeyda Hilliard is pursuing a Masters degree in School Counseling at Trinity Washington University. She expects to complete her studies in 2012.

Angy Kallarkal is pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She expects to complete her studies in 2012.

Lisa McQuighan earned a M.A. in Psychology from American University in 2007 and works a research associate for Arbitron in Columbia, MD.

Jessica Leonard earned her MS in Sport Psychology- Exercise and Sports Sciences from Ithaca College in 2009. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology from West Virginia University and hopes to complete her studies in 2014.

Hope Lobkowicz volunteered at the Marine Mammal Center's rescue and release program on the central coast of California after graduation.  She earned an MA in Public Policy, with a concentration in Environmental Policy, from The George Washington University in ‘08 and is currently a Government Affairs Senior Associate with Pew Environment Group, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C.

Caitlin Moore completed the Tuck Business Bridge Program in 2008. She currently works for Booz Allen Hamilton.

Liz O'Sullivan earned a M.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in 2008. She is currently a waitron at Local 44.

Samantha Ortiz earned her Masters in Social Work at University of Mary in 2011.

Christina (Rowe) Schultheis works for the Health Surveys Branch (DSD) of the US Census Bureau as a Survey Statistician who works on quality assurance activities for the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). She is currently pursuing an MPH in Community Health Education from the University of Maryland College Park.

Jason Straub earned his MA in Social Work from UMB. He is currently an Outpatient Therapist working with children as part of the Community Psychiatry Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Sasha Stout is a research associate for KAI Research in Washington, D.C.

Class of 2004

Kyle Bishop received an MS in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2007. She has worked at various community agencies including a drug/alcohol rehabilitation center and a children's center specializing in the emotional needs of children. Kyle has since returned to SMCM where she is the Assistant Director of Counseling. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in counseling psychology.

Joshua Chiapelli earned his MD from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 2008. He is now a psychiatry resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Jordan Knicely completed his MS in Psychology at Lehigh University in 2010.

Benaiah Lee currently teaches 3rd grade in Baltimore City. She entered the teaching field after a 2 year stint in the business world because she wanted to find a way to put her degree to work helping people. She expects to earn a MAT in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins in May 2010.

Class of 2003

Brian Jobe remained at SMC to work as a research associate collaborating with Dr. Laraine Glidden's in Project Parenting for two years following graduation. While pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at UMBC, he works at the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County as a clinical staff member of the New Behaviors Program for Men. He supervises the intake assessment and referral process, maintains regular contact with the court and probation departments, conducts group and individual therapy with clients, and manages the day-to-day operations of the program. Also, as part of his job he gets to oversee graduate students at one of their first clinical placements. He expects to complete his studies in 2012.

Julia G. Kurish earned her MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, in 2006.

Angela (Trinidad) Draheim has been the Departmental Assistant in Psychology at SMCM since 2004.

Ibrahim Gba-Kamara is currently serving as an Aviation Administrator for the US Navy and earned a BA degree in Paralegal Studies from Roger Williams University in 2011. He has also studied Healthcare Administration at University of Maryland University College.

Class of 2002

Rebecca Anderson is pursuing a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the Institute of Psychology at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

Kimberly Gurski is a Regulatory Trade Compliance Coordinator for UNDER ARMOUR®.

Wendy (Povistsky) Stickle earned her MA & PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from UMCP in 2005 & 2009 respectively. She is currently a Research Analyst for Westat.

Jennifer Horn received an MSW from Temple University in 2007 and an MBA in Management & Planning from the University of Phoenix in 2009. She is currently a Legal Liaison for Dauphin County Social Services for Children and Youth in PA.

Julie Bederka Hamilton earned her Masters of Education in School Counseling from Loyola College of MD in 2005. She is the Director of Business Development for CBH Health, LLC.

Nicole Little earned her DVM from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She works as a veterinarian for Veterinary Specialists of South Florida.

Kelly O'Brien completed a predoctoral internship at UNC-Chapel Hill (September 2006-September 2007) and then earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology (child track) from the University of Florida in May 2008. She is has been a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland in the Department of Psychology since May 2008. 

Class of 2001

Robert Friesel is a Graphical User Interface Developer for a web developer in Vermont. He is married to psyc alumna Amy Chess '00.

Jennifer (Menard) St. Germain has been the Animal Caretaker and Departmental Technician at SMCM since 2001.

Class of 2000

Amy Chess earned her MA in Experimental Psychology from the University of Vermont in 2004 and her PhD in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience) from Dartmouth College 2007. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychology at the University of Vermont from 2006-2010 and is currently the Program Director of Psychology at Champlain College where she provides program leadership, curriculum development, and advising for the Psychology Program, in addition to teaching Psychology courses. She is married to psyc alum Robert Friesel '01.

David Ryden earned his JD from University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law in 2003 and is currently an Assistant State's Attorney for Harford County.
