General Requirements
All transfer students must follow St. Mary’s transfer procedures and seek official approval from the Psychology Department Chair and the Office of the Registrar.

General Psychology Requirements
Transfers from 2-year, community colleges:
Successful completion (C- or better) of any or all of these courses will make it easier to complete the Psychology major at St. Mary’s. Course selections may vary among community colleges.
- General/Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 101 counts towards the humanistic perspectives requirement of the St. Mary’s CORE Curriculum; an Advanced Placement score of 4 or 5 also satisfies PSYC 101)
- Human Development/Lifespan (transfers in as PSYC 230)
- Social Psychology (transfers in as PSYC 250) Or Personality Psychology (transfers in as PSYC 270)
- Physiological and Sensory Psychology (may transfer in as PSYC 235)
- Learning and Cognition (may transfer in as PSYC 205)
Please note that while community colleges may offer courses with names similar to those of 300-400 level psychology courses at St. Mary’s (e.g. Infant & Child Development, Abnormal Psychology, Adolescence) they can only transfer in as extra lower-division credits and will not counts towards the required upper division courses.
Transfers from 4-year institutions:
