Welcome from the Music Director:
Situated in the scenic tidewater region in the south of Maryland, St. Mary’s College has long been a summer home for the arts. The 2007 River Concert Series School welcomed music students from across the United States, Japan, and Italy to work with our world class faculty. Our RCS School faculty, as well as an impressive list of guest artists, included principal trombone of the Chicago Symphony Jay Friedman, principal trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Andrew Balio, principal trumpet of the Zurich Opera in Switzerland William Nulty, and flute star Giuseppe Nova.
This summer the River Concert Series will again offer Piano Fest 2008, a three day retreat for pianists, and a special program to welcome visiting students from Italy. The traditional summer music master classes have been expanded in a new and exciting venture - we are pleased to offer full music semesters (fall and spring) at our campus in Alba, Italy, home of the Alba International Music Festival. While this is designed for college music students from the United States and Europe, in summer 2009 we will offer exciting music seminars for advanced high school musicians in addition to college musicians.
If you are interested in any of these programs please contact Michael Adams at mdadams@smcm.edu
