“Escuela Colina Azul, a private elementary school in Atenas, Costa Rica, is launching the renowned environmental program entitled Roots & Shoots with a particular focus on Stingless Honeybees.  The newly constructed trail and the presence of a Stingless Honeybee hive on the school grounds will allow students to personally explore such biological wonders and will be immensely conducive to active learning.  The honey produced by the hive will also be used for school fundraising and as an industry to compensate for the diminishing coffee bean commerce in the area.  This endearing little school is truly a model for both environmental and intellectual cultivation and is constantly enhancing the biological atmosphere of the school with the additional planting of exotic plants and wildflowers, just to name a few!”
