Service & Social Change Student Organizations

Black Student Union

The purpose of this organization shall be:

  • To effectively communicate the academic as well as the unique cultural and social needs of Black students to this college community
  • To regularly program and provide cultural activities for this college community
  • To influence changes in academic and social matters to include the unique needs of Black students
  • To provide an awareness of black culture for the college and community
  • To promote understanding, good will, diversity and friendship among all students of this college community
  • To provide a supportive network for the black students and to assist them with the transition to college life
  • To encourage intercultural involvement and diversity from the black experience into all phases of campus life

Circle K

The mission of Circle K is to provide service on the local, regional, and international level while developing social and leadership skills. Circle K meets every other Wednesday at 8:30p.m. in Monty 103.

Feminist United for Sexual Equality

The purposes of this club are:

  1. To establish a broad constituency to work in pursuit of the following feminist ideals:
    1. The social, political and economic equality of the sexes
    2. The safety, health and empowerment of women
    3. The liberation of persons from culturally assigned gender roles insofar as they limit a person's absolute creativity or freedom as a human being
  2. To monitor and take action on global, national, and campus wide feminist issues and concerns
  3. To provide leadership and career-building opportunities for St. Mary’s College feminist students
  4. To educate the St. Mary’s community about feminist issues and ideals
  5. To facilitate strong and unified feminist community on campus.
  6. To maintain and active and respected presence as feminists on campus

The purpose of this club is to serve the St. Mary's community and to improve relations between members of the community at large and the college by providing student volunteers dedicated to helping others and to be one of the many providers of service opportunities for students of the college.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat's Mission is to eliminate poverty housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Invisible Children Service Committee

Mission: To raise awareness of the crisis in Northern Uganda and to raise funds to assist relief of Ugandan refugees.

Rotaract Club

Rotaract's mission is to provide St. Mary's College with practical opportunities to develop personal skills and knowledge and to serve the surrounding community.

St. Mary's Triangle & Rainbow Society

S.T.A.R.S. is St. Mary's equivalent of a Gay Straight Alliance. We exist to promote tolerance, encourage understanding, and support one another as individuals and as a campus community. We are politically active on both local and national levels and are working to ensure equality for all GLBTQ people. Everyone is encouraged to attend our weekly meetings and show support! Come gay, come straight, come however you are.
