SGA Senate meetings are held every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in Schaefer Hall, room 106. Senate meetings are open to all students and a Student Speak-out is held at the beginning of every meeting for students to ask questions, make comments, or voice concerns.
At each SGA meeting there is a guest speaker, usually a College staff member or administrator. Guest speakers often discuss what services their office provides and give Senators any relevant information to share with their constituents. Following the guest speaker, new legislation is presented to the Senate, discussed and voted on. New legislation may include a bill to provide funding for an event, a resolution that makes a recommended action to an office on campus, a new club constitution, etc. During SGA Senate meetings, SGA Executive Board members and SGA committee chairs also give updates. In addition, Senators voice any concerns of their constituents or problems with their residence area.
Through Senate meetings, the SGA is able to gauge what on-campus issues are important to students and then act as a liaison between the student body and the administration. Senate meetings also provide time to discuss idea for SGA events and initiatives.
