Talon Grant

The Talon Grant was created by the SGA as a way to provide funding for student initiatives across campus.  Any full time St. Mary's student can apply for a Talon Grant for any event or project they feel will benefit the entire St. Mary's student body.  Talon Grants are for funding initiatives and events that will benefit ALL students.*

The Talon Grant process take approximately two weeks.  First, a student must fill out the Talon Grant Application form with as much detail about the proposed project or event then turn it into the SGA Treasurer.  The Treasurer then sends the application to the Parliamentarian to check for constitutionality.  Once cleared, the form then goes back to the Treasurer to be reviewed by the Finance Board.  Applicants may be required to attend a meeting with the Finance Board to defend their proposal.  If the application is approved the by the Finance Board, the proposal is sent to the SGA for a vote.  Applicants MUST attend this meeting to present their proposal to the Senate before a vote is taken.

Past Initiatives:

  • Drink coasters for student that test for date rape drugs (available for all students in the Health Center)
  • Windsurfing equipment for students to check out at the Boat House
  • Fixing a barn in Historic St. Mary's City

*This is not to be used by clubs for club funding.  Clubs must use either Finance Board or Programs Board.
