SOCIETY FOR HUMANISTIC ANTHROPOLOGY

Keep Scrolling!

AAA WRITERS GROUP

Friday, November 30, 2007

8-10 PM

Welcome to the first annual AAA Writers Group, sponsored by the Society for Humanistic Anthropology. We invite you to read from your ethnographic poems and short shorts, as well as one- or two-page excerpts from short stories, novellas, novels and memoirs.  The Writers Group will use guidelines common to literary groups; writers will read their work, and then receive constructive critique from other participants.  One to three selections may be read, depending on length and time.  Please note that this is not a workshop per se or open-mic event, but another venue in which the Society for Humanistic Anthropology wishes to encourage multiple genres of good writing. Participation is free and open to all AAA writers.  We invite you to bring your work and read, and to enjoy other good, experimental ethnographic writing!  Feel free to contact me if you have further questions:  Maynard@denison.edu.  Organizer:  Kent Maynard, Poetry Editor, Anthropology & Humanism.

The following events are scheduled at next week’s meeting. Please check final program for location, and to confirm time. This does not include workshops. I hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend our awards program and the business meeting immediately following.
