Welcome from the St. Mary's Family Network!
Dear St. Mary’s Parents and Families,
With sincere appreciation for the efforts of the St. Mary’s Family Network (SMFN) to date, St. Mary’s College of Maryland has decided to suspend the SMFN. This decision was made after extensive discussion by the President’s Cabinet. It became clear that initial structure and functioning of the SMFN was not sustainable for many reasons. We will take some time for the staff to gather again to strategize the next best steps and recreate the Family Network at a later date. The SMFN board agrees with the College that this is an appropriate action to take at this time. The SMFN appreciates the opportunity it has had to work with College and remains committed to the mission of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
As always, the faculty, staff, and administration of St. Mary’s College are committed to working with parents and families. Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Laura Bayless continues to be the appropriate starting point for your students’ questions and concerns. Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life Joanne Goldwater is a particularly useful contact regarding residential matters. And during the transition, parents and families are welcome and encouraged to volunteer for activities (such as Accepted Student Days, New Student Days, Orientation, Family Weekend, Career Development Center events, etc.) For more information about being involved with activities like these, please contact Joanne Goldwater.
