Current: Issues of Welfare Reform in rural communities.
1/87 to 1/95: St. Mary's County Housing, Department of Economic and Community
Development: Conducted policy evaluations for federally-funded program-- Project Self-
Sufficiency/Operation Bootstrap.
6/84 to 1/87: Faculty Development Grant, St. Mary's College of Maryland. Conducted
research on women's employment, childbearing, and child care. Analysis of U.S.
Census Current Population Surveys.
5/83 to 1/84: Consultant, St. Mary's Women's Center, Inc., Lexington Park, Maryland.
Prepared data and wrote documentation for employment needs survey of St. Mary's
County. Conducted preliminary analysis of the data.
1/81 to 8/82: Research Assistant, Department of Sociology, University of Maryland,
College Park, Md. Worked for Dr. Jerald Hage and Dr. Joseph Lengermann on the
sponsored project, "Synthesis of Hospital Organization Literature, 1969-
1979." Duties included preparation of codebook and documentation, literature
reviews, coding and abstracting of articles, Meta-analysis.
8/76 to 6/79: Research Assistant, Department of Sociology, University of Maryland,
College Park, Md. Assisted Dr.Harriet Presser on a longitudinal study on the
consequences of adolescent fertility, and on a study of child care constraints among
employed and unemployed women. Responsible for development of codes for open-
ended survey questions; preparing and editing the data for the third interview
questionnaire. Throughout both projects, created and maintained computer files and
tapes; data analysis, including parametric and nonparametric statistics. Assisted with
grant proposals, papers, articles and final reports.
6/79 to 8/79 and 6/80 to 8/80: Computer Data Lab Assistant, Department of Sociology,
University of Maryland, College Park, Md. Wrote fortran program to prepare cross-
sectional and longitudinal data sets for faculty and graduate student use. Wrote
documentation for use of the data sets and provided sample computer runs, using the
statistical package, SPSS. General user consulting.
6/76 to 8/76: Research Assistant, Institutional Research, University of North Carolina-
Greensboro, N.C. Compiled and analyzed data from student questionnaire (CSQ).

Worked with Dr. Sonia Conley on a study "Women in the Labor Force and
Subsidized Child Care." Assisted in developing coding schemes and learned
