Joe Carroll Award
A 20-year member of our housekeeping staff, Joe Carroll died on July 17, 2011, at age 66. In his memory, the Joe Carroll Memorial Award was created later that year by faculty and staff. This award recognizes non-exempt staff members who exemplify Joe’s commitment to the campus.
The winner of the award for 2013 was Earl P. Dean, Equipment Room Supervisor for Athletics. Congratulations, Earl!
Awards and Recognition Committee
Members of this committee coordinate nomination and selection process for college-wide staff awards; make resources, models, and opportunities for idea exchange available to campus staff on topics related to employee recognition and motivation; support efforts of communications committee to promote awareness of staff accomplishments; and maintain contact with the Office of Human Resources regarding ongoing recognition efforts.

- In FA12, the committee acquired a plaque to recognize winners of the Joe Carroll Award; it resides in the campus center.
- After an anonymous donor provided $500 to establish a Monthly Staff Recognition Award, the committee worked to develop the nominations procedure and rubric.
- Provides a certificate of completion to any staff member who attended a training session organized by the Professional Development Committee.
