Dear Campus Community:
It’s my pleasure to share with you St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s three-year strategic plan. Before I discuss the elements of this plan, I would first like to acknowledge the work of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee (SPSC) and subcommittees who worked diligently to engage you, the campus community, in the process of crafting this document.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank all of you who engaged and participated in this process. Your input was invaluable. I am confident you will see your voices weaved throughout the document. The committees—and our entire community—rose to the challenge the Board of Trustees put before us in the summer of 2015. I’m pleased to report that we have met that challenge in nine months.
In addition to your input, we sought the help of members outside of our campus community whose expertise were relevant to critical areas of the strategic plan.
The spirit of our mission, vision, and core values is enduring. They have been refined to embrace the opportunities and challenges of today. The goals, objectives, and tactics were informed by your participation in this process. You assisted us in identifying some of the challenges we face, as well as ways to leverage our strengths and take advantage of untapped opportunities.
While this plan is very ambitious, we recognize that there is more work to be done in the years to come. Thus, our aspirations do not stop with this document. We feel confident, however, that the goals outlined in this strategic plan are attainable within three years.
The strategic plan will be delivered to the Board this week in advance of the quarterly meeting on May 13. In the weeks to follow, the SPSC will identify an implementation process. We look forward to sharing more on this as it develops.
I present to you St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s 2016-2019 Strategic Plan.
