The Office of Student Activities provides opportunities for students' personal growth through exposure to multicultural experiences and engagement in leadership development and active citizenship. The services and resources of the office support the co-curricular efforts of students, faculty and staff.
The Office of Student Activities advises the Student Government Association Senate, the executive and the programming board. The staff also serves as a resource to the clubs and organizations recognized by the SGA. Visit their website for more info about SGA and clubs by clicking here.
The Office of Student Activities is responsible for helping students organize and plan campus events. Students, however, have an equal responsibility to develop their social and intellectual lives outside the classroom. For this reason, Student Activities encourages programming efforts from individual students, clubs and organizations, and employs students as program assistants. From lunchtime concerts to ice-skating trips, from campus-wide dances to major lectures, there is always an event to attend. To see the caledar of events, click here.
The Service and Social Change program operates in response to the high degree of student interest in volunteerism, service, and social and environmental activism. We connect with student organizations, classes and interested students to get involved in a variety of service-learning activities. Our programs include: Christmas in April, World AIDS Day, Seahawk Service Saturdays, various drives for the local community, Habitat for Humanity Alternative Spring Break Trip. Visit the Service and Social Change website by clicking here.
The goals of the orientation program are to aid students in their transition to the institution, to help them understand the mission and values of the institution as well as their relationship to the academic environment, to provide information and exposure to available services, and to introduce them to student life. The program provides interaction with faculty, staff, continuing students, and other new students. Visit the orientation website by clicking here.
The Office of Student Activities is responsible for a variety of student-run publications and media:
The office assists commuter students with concerns and facilitates communication between them and the College. The lounges, located in the Campus Center, are a good place to study, relax, and socialize between classes. The Campus Center contains lockers for storing books and other items. The Information Desk provides up-to-date information about on-campus events.
Student at St. Mary's are afforded an opportunity to participate in leadership programs which will help them enhance their skills while being involved in campus activities. The programs include seminars, lectures, instructional sessions, opportunities for application and process, conference and reflections.
Each class year has a set of elected officers who represent the class to the Student Government Association. Student Activities staff members advise these groups and assist with their fundraising efforts as they plan for their Senior Week. To meet the class officers click here.
The Campus Center, the heart of the St. Mary's Campus, offers many services and facilities to students. Some of the facilities include a 158-seat movie theater, the Great Room (cafeteria), The Daily Grind, the Campus Store (bookstore), a variety of meeting spcaes and a number of offices devoted to student-run organizations.
