Theaters, Studios & Labs
The following is a list of TFMS theaters, studios, and labs located in the Montgomery Hall Fine Arts Center (MH).
Bruce Davis Theater: The Bruce Davis Theater is a multi-functional space. The location of many TFMS acting and literature classes and of all main stage productions, the Theater seats approximately 150-330 (balcony and main floor), depending on its configuration (proscenium, thrust, arena, or alley).
The White Room: The White Room is a student-run and organized performance space seating approximately 25-50. Used also as a laboratory for the technical/design classes and occasionally as a rehearsal space for main stage productions, the White Room functions principally as a laboratory for student-produced work.
Dance/Movement Studio: The Dance Studio accommodates all dance and movement classes of TFMS, and occasionally other department offerings, as scheduling demands. Principally a classroom/laboratory space for the department's dance and movement curriculum, the Studio may also be used as an experimental performance space. The Studio is equipped with permanent barres, a mirrored wall, dressing rooms, and a floor of maple. Street shoes must be removed before entering this space.
Multi-Media Center: is an instructional technologies facility accommodating classes and class assignments in art/art history; theater, film, and media; English; international languages and cultures; and music. The Center functions as both a learning lab, focusing on techniques for integrating technology into the curriculum, and a ProLab for high-end digital work. The Multi-Media Center is currently equipped with 20 Apple eMac G4 workstations, 10 Dual-Processor PowerMac G4’s with dual monitors, and a Mobile Lab of 10 iBook G4’s that can turn any classroom in the building into a digital lab. The lab is also outfitted with a variety of peripherals for importing and exporting, including scanners, cameras, card readers, graphics tablets, and more. Theater-related software includes Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Final Cut Pro, Motion & DVD Studio Pro, among others.
Digital Video Lab: The digital video lab is a full-featured editing lab that includes two advanced editing stations and a wide range of utilities for story-boarding, filming with digital video, editing, and producing professional-level DVDs. Each station is equipped with a PowerMac G5 with dual monitors, a real-color NTSC output monitor, and multiple input devices, and currently runs Final Cut Pro and the newest versions of animation and photo manipulation software. Students can produce a range of projects in the lab, from short-form interview documentaries to full-length movies with special effects.
