B-Ball Results
Sophomore guard Stephanie Saint-Aubin and junior forward Allie Scott put together 49 points as the St. Mary’s women’s basketball team rolled to its second straight win with a 81-49 victory over Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) newcomer, Hood College, Saturday afternoon.
The men's team lost to Hood in a down-to-the-wire contest that ended at 73-70.

Visiting
St. Mary's City & Beyond
There are several interesting and historic places to visit within a reasonable driving distance from the College. The campus is located at Historic St. Mary’s City, an outdoor “living” museum offering tours and re-creations of 17th century colonial life. Located about 20 minutes from the College is Solomons Island, a quiet waterfront fishing village offering museums and attractions, shopping, waterfront dining, sailing and other water sports. Historic Leonardtown, located 20 minutes from St. Mary’s, boasts one of the state’s few preserved town squares. Maryland’s state capitol, Annapolis, is located 70 miles from the College. The Nation’s Capitol, Washington, D.C., is 75 miles from the College and the harbor city of Baltimore, Maryland is approximately 120 miles from campus.
Learning
- Public Lectures:
Cultural Events and lectures are open to the public and, unless otherwise noted, free of charge. These are listed in the College bulletin and on the College homepage and in the College calendar
- Lifelong Learning:
Non-credit enrichment courses are offered throughout the year to extend the resources and facilities of the College to the community. Classes cover such topics as yoga, dance, local history, and instructional technology; other recreational and special interests (sailing classes and a film series, for examples) are offered periodically.
- Summer Session:
St. Mary’s College offers credit courses and other special programs during a summer session of six weeks. The session provides courses in many disciplines for students and for area residents who attend other college and universities. Faculty members occasionally offer special courses during the summer which are not offered during the academic year.
- Continuing Education:
Continuing Education and Professional Program students may be working professionals who attend evening classes, adults returning to college, qualified local high school students, or students desiring to change careers or pursue academic work for personal enrichment. The faculty and staff at St. Mary's College of Maryland have a commitment to help these students in their educational pursuits, and they welcome persons of all ages to the St. Mary's classrooms.

- MAT Program:
The MAT program leads to certification for students who would like to teach either at the elementary level or in the secondary content fields of English, Social Studies, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biology, or modern Foreign Language. Additionally, students may certify to teach Music Art and Drama in grades K-12. Also, students may add certification in early childhood education to an elementary certificate.

St. Mary's Publications
The River Gazette is published six times a year and aims to convey a sense of the wide variety of activities, talents, and expertise that make up the College. The Mulberry Tree is the College’s alumni magazine and is published twice each year. SlackWater is a journal focusing on exploring and documenting the region’s changing landscapes. The St. Mary’s Press has published This Place Where We Are, a collection of essays about St. Mary’s written by English professor Jeffrey Hammond, as well as the College/HSMC Timeline. The literary magazine, Avatar and the annually produced Underwire offer an outlet for students to share their ideas and creativity.
