The Women’s Sailing Team won their conference championship, narrowly edging Georgetown by three points. Skipper Carolyn Smith finished second in A Division, and Greer Wattson tied for first in B Division. The team used all crews in the lineup including Shelby Jacobs, Grace Papp, Lizzie Dennison, and Lydia McPherson Shambarger, to take the title. Winning this event grants the Women’s Team a berth in the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship at College of Charleston.
Sophomore Ellie Ungar rallied in the final set with a 1, 6 to secure a fifth place finish, and a trip to ICSA Women’s Singlehanded Nationals at the Faye Bennet this weekend at the US Naval Academy. The National Championship will be held November 5-6 in Galveston, Texas. The Faye Bennet was won by defending ICSA National Champion Haddon Hughes of Georgetown.
